In 1952, a brand spanking new silver bullet diner was delivered to a small community in Upstate New York. This Mountainview Diner, built in Singac, New Jersey, Model No. 330, was slated to be “the most modern kitchen in all of upstate”. The residents of Herkimer watched in amazement as the diner was delivered on a flatbed truck and installed right along Main Street. For 65 years the Empire Diner has been the hub of the community and has held a special place in the hearts of many. It tells a story of a gathering of family and friends enjoying great food and lots of laughs. Otto’s Empire Diner has kept the tradition alive and well, winning numerous awards with their food. Pepe’s Restaurants have continuously served the Southland with fine quality Mexican food. Pepe’s was founded in 1962 by three brothers, Joe, Tony and Fred. Unable to find steady business at first, the location was changed several times before finally settling in Alhambra in 1962, where the name was changed permanently to “Pepe’s.” During these early years, the brothers often relied on the help of family members to keep the business growing.
