Pepe’s Restaurants have continuously served the Southland with fine quality Mexican food. Pepe’s was founded in 1962 by three brothers, Joe, Tony and Fred. Unable to find steady business at first, the location was changed several times before finally settling in Alhambra in 1962, where the name was changed permanently to “Pepe’s.” During these early years, the brothers often relied on the help of family members to keep the business growing. In 1962, their nephew “Pepe” was sent to fight in Vietnam. This is when Tony, out of love for his nephew, renamed the restaurant after him, Pepe's.
In the following years, the restaurant had become a great success. However, in 1973 Tony passed away leaving Joe and Fred to run the business solely. In 1976, the youngest of the three brothers, Fred, joined in helping to expand Pepe’s Restaurants with the opening of the Downey location. Since then, Pepe’s has continued to grow, opening locations in both Los Angeles, San Gabriel Valley and Orange Counties.
The restaurants have continuously served authentic, high quality Mexican food, keeping their secret recipes inside the family. This has made Pepe’s the well-known establishment it is today
Wow. No bueno here. Rude bartender and crappy atmosphere here at this dive bar. Used to come here often, moved across the valley and returned to this - pretty good downslide and it's sad. Hope that the owners can rectify what went wrong and save this sinking ship of a once cool pub. I sure hope so.
Thank you ladies and gentlemen
Pepe's Lounge is the Tolleson local VFW. There's seating indoors & on the outdoor patio for smoking if you choose to.The walls are lined with American Hero's like any VFW should be. The clientele is local friends & fam from the area & are very friendly to the newbies. The ambience is casual booths, tables, 2 TV's, a juke box & pool table. It's a very chill atmosphere & the drink prices are reasonable. On top of that very reasonable price there are discounted drinks for current & retired military. Pepe's is family owned & operated. The bartenders are a couple of local pretty ladies that are fun loving & sweet. If they're not too busy you can chat them up & will accommodate any sporting event requests you have for the TV's. They do have local sponsored events like corn hole tournament & pool tournament recently. Great fun to be had for sure.
I had to give 1 star so I could at least leave a review. This place claims to be a VFW post, hahahaha the owner, Bonnie, disrespected my husband, a Veteran and a huge supporters this particular post, 6310, by telling him that she will mo longer serve him and to F off. And why....over a parking space dispute with her daughter. Parking is terrible at this place anyway and her daughter parked my husband "in" he asked her to move and she didn't feel as though she had to move cuz her mom owns the bar and so they had words. Two weeks later...two weeks and the bar owner, the VFW representative, tells my husband, a Vet and a huge supporter of that particular post, to F off and I'm not gonna serve you. First of all, you support Vets and secondly, don't bite the hand that feeds you...we were there the night before, 2 people were in there,(Friday night) girl....you gotta pay rent, quit refusing service to people over stupid shit, you gotta pay rent and keep the lights on, you can't ride on the shirt tails of the VFW forever, they are gonna build their own building and then what????? Your charming personality gonna keep people.....sorry...that ain't gonna happen....you are not a people person!!
Needless to say, we are still gonna support our Vets, just somewhere else, somewhere where they actually "support " Vets themselves not just the benefits that come with it.
Bye bye Bonnie, may you and your daughter have all the parking area that you need!!!
Signed,
You know who I am am and also a very unhappy Veteran wife
This is one of the worst services I've ever been provided. The bartender (older woman with short black hair) was rude to us as soon as we walked in. I was with a group of friends and as we ordered she accused us of stealing a beer. She then proceeded to kick us out of the bar as she said we are no one special or famous either way and doesn't care what we think. I got upset and told her we are paying customers and she should never treat customers this way. It was very clear this bartender did not care either way and will clearly run this place out of business.
