About

In 1952, a brand spanking new silver bullet diner was delivered to a small community in Upstate New York. This Mountainview Diner, built in Singac, New Jersey, Model No. 330, was slated to be “the most modern kitchen in all of upstate”. The residents of Herkimer watched in amazement as the diner was delivered on a flatbed truck and installed right along Main Street. For 65 years the Empire Diner has been the hub of the community and has held a special place in the hearts of many. It tells a story of a gathering of family and friends enjoying great food and lots of laughs.

Otto’s Empire Diner has kept the tradition alive and well, winning numerous awards with their food. Among the most notable are the Best Cheeseburger and Best Bacon Cheeseburger awarded by the New York Beef Council and the most recent acclaim of Best Diner in Upstate New York as voted by hundreds of thousands of New York residents.

Otto’s Empire Diner is home to the work’s largest Omelet as recognized by Ripley’s! Believe it or Not. This amazing omelet consisted of 41,040 eggs and an unbelievable 2,128.75 square feet.

We are proud to be affiliated with such a wonderful establishment. It is our goal to offer outstanding meals and service with the same distinction as the original New York diner. We pass on excellence and quality without compromise.

On July 29, 2005, The now Otto’s Empire Diner opened their first location in Phoenix Arizona at 3502 W. Greenway Road Ste. # 20. The response from the community has been great and not only are the people of the community our customers some have become our friends. We look forward to continuing our reputation of a spot where people enjoy gathering for good food and a friendly atmosphere.

Reviews

This place is located in a little strip mall at Greenway and 35th Ave. Staff is really friendly and gives the place a really good vibe. Kinda has a diner type quality about it which this East coast guy respects.
I ordered the Otto Special which had scrambled eggs, ham, bacon, sausage patty, hash browns and toast. Outside the eggs being a bit dry it was a very satisfying meal. Best part were the hash browns which were sliced potatoes well seasoned and grilled.

Today my hubby and I decided to stop at otto's for breakfast. We were seated right away and our drink orders taken. After pondering their pretty extensive menu we opted to share the Denver omelet and cheddar cheese with their scrumptious potatoes which I think are the best lots of flavor and not burnt. We will be back as their food and service are top notch

Food is pretty good, though prices have went up quite a bit since we first began eating here years ago (understandably). They close early so hurry up.

Really sad to say we won't come back. After 2 different visits, we've decided this place is not good for breakfast.

Cons: uneven cook on food, very oily, cold in the middle, mediocre flavor, quality is worse than fast food

Pro: friendly service and local business
