Raymond and Teresa Bonillas opened the first Don Ruben's in 1972 and quickly stole the hearts of native and non-native Phoenicians alike. Flash to the summer of 2001, when Steve and Lené Bonillas re-opened Don Ruben's on 43rd Avenue & Cactus. It is always great to meet new customers, but it always makes The Don Ruben's Family smile a little bigger when customers of the original Don Ruben's come in and are pleased to experience their longtime favorite Mexican food.
