About

Javier Ruiz immigrated to the United States in 1967 with the dream of opening a taco shop. He achieved his dream 16 years later with the help of his brother David Ruiz by opening “Cotijas Taco Shop” in El Cajon, California. Thanks to the success of this restaurant, more of the Ruiz family members were able to become more involved in the company. In 2003, the Ruiz brothers decided it’s time to expand the family business to Tennessee under the name “Oscar’s Taco Shop®.“ Today, Javier Ruiz has handed the keys to his kids and even though he is retired, he reminds them to always look forward and never look back. As a result, “Oscar’s Taco shop®” is more popular than ever! The family could not be happier and you should be too. Because now you can taste some of the Ruiz family recipes at one of their 13 Tennessee and Arizona locations.

It was Tuesday night I was not in the mood to cook and didn't want to go out to eat so I thought it was a great time to try out Oscar's Taco Shop so off I went.

After checking out the menu I knew I wanted to try the chicken rolled tacos, and for my daughter and grandson got them some tacos, and on Tuesday their crispy tacos are $1.99.

I got my grandson the ground beef tacos with just meat and cheese, and he told me those there the best tacos he has had. The tacos are a nice size taco too, glad he enjoyed it.

The chicken rolled tacos where exactly what I wanted, I did get the 5 rolled tacos which is plenty and made 2 meals for me. It was covered with gauc sauce, lettuce tomatoes and so much cheese. Then I topped it with some of the red salsa and man that was delish!

Next time I go I gotta try them tacos!

Ordered chicken tacos got carne asada tacos, the little girl at the window requires customer service training, I still didn't get my tacos corrected.

The torta was OK, but their rice and beans...NASTY!!!!

Beans were burned and rice was not goooood!

Even though this place is located on a major Road, (Scottsdale Road), it is hidden from view. There is a sign that states Oscar's Taco shop if you are looking. There is no entrance on Scottsdale Road to the restaurant. The restaurant can be entered by going south on Scottsdale Road and turning left on Deer Valley. Make an immediate left into the driveway and enter the lot where Oscar's is located.
There is a large parking lot. Oscar's is clearly marked.
The place is clean and tidy. Staff are friendly. We enjoy the breakfast burritos which are served all day. I get the potato, cheese and egg burrito. The street taco special is also good and comes with a beverage. Good prices and everything is freshly made. For takeout and in-house orders, staff include a selection of salsas to use on your meal. Help yourself to your own beverage.

Well I heard they are known for there tacos but I ordered cheese enchiladas.
I had to take them back to the counter. The enchiladas were room temperature and the cheese inside the enchiladas wasn't even melted. Well I tried it. :-/
