Javier Ruiz immigrated to the United States in 1967 with the dream of opening a taco shop. He achieved his dream 16 years later with the help of his brother David Ruiz by opening “Cotijas Taco Shop” in El Cajon, California. Thanks to the success of this restaurant, more of the Ruiz family members were able to become more involved in the company. In 2003, the Ruiz brothers decided it’s time to expand the family business to Tennessee under the name “Oscar’s Taco Shop®.“ Today, Javier Ruiz has handed the keys to his kids and even though he is retired, he reminds them to always look forward and never look back. Chrissy's Nino's Pizzeria
Established in 1970. The original owner of Nino's Pizzeria opened up this location roughly 30 years ago. Two additional locations were opened, one of which still exists on 59th Ave and Peoria. The original owner sold the 59th ave and 99th ave locations as separate business. So, although they share the common name of "Nino's Pizza" the restaurants are no longer associated with one another on a business level. The 99th ave and Olive location has only switched hands two times. Once purchased from the original owner by a woman known as Gail who, after 19 yrs of ownership sold the business to it's current owner Chirssy. Chirssy has been owner/operator of Nino's for over 7 years (as of 2013). People come from all over the west valley to visit this famous restaurant. Some tell stories about coming in during their child hood and revisiting recently. Others have been coming in consistently for over 15 years.
