Javier Ruiz immigrated to the United States in 1967 with the dream of opening a taco shop. He achieved his dream 16 years later with the help of his brother David Ruiz by opening “Cotijas Taco Shop” in El Cajon, California. Thanks to the success of this restaurant, more of the Ruiz family members were able to become more involved in the company. In 2003, the Ruiz brothers decided it’s time to expand the family business to Tennessee under the name “Oscar’s Taco Shop®.“ Today, Javier Ruiz has handed the keys to his kids and even though he is retired, he reminds them to always look forward and never look back. As a result, “Oscar’s Taco shop®” is more popular than ever! The family could not be happier and you should be too. How did we get started? The Pandemic caused a lot of people to change how they live, and we were no different. Not being able to go to our favorite restaurants had a major impact on our lifestyle. Due to the time it takes to make Pho the right way, one of our favorite places to eat was our local Pho restaurant. However, once the pandemic was in full effect, this was no longer an option.
So what did we do then? The entire family got involved in brainstorming on how we can make AUTHENTIC Pho in a short amount of time to make it convenient for our busy lifestyle.
First, we took our family recipe that has been passed down several generations, and started to experiment on ways to make it faster, and not sacrifice flavor, taste or authenticity.
Second, we spent time and time again perfecting our process until finally, we hit perfection!
What did we do next? We made kits for ourselves, family members, coworkers and friends to enjoy at home.
What happened next? Friends would tell other friends, family would tell their friends, and before you knew it, there was a circle of demand for our new Pho Kit.
Finally, The PhoLicious LLC kit was born!
