About

While some things have changed over the last few decades, El Pollo Loco's delivery of fresh, authentic food has not. Everything starts with whole chickens that are slowly marinated in a special recipe of herbs, spices, fruit juices and garlic. The chicken is then expertly fire-grilled to perfection the authentic way - on our signature open-flame grills - then hand cut into your favorite Mexican entrees. We put that same dedication and care into our handmade guacamole, salsas and dressings every day. At El Pollo Loco in Scottsdale,AZ, we believe that when real food meets real fire the result is great taste that will keep you coming back again and again.

We ordered El Pollo Loco via DoorDash this past week for lunch. Our food arrived hot and fresh. The flavor was good and the portion sizes were good. Not my favorite Mexican I've had in AZ, but still very good.

First time at this location. There was a man in training who was very nice and guided me through the menu options. They also had a soup special- chicken tortilla soup. When I got home I realized that I had lost about half the soup because the container lid was not properly sealed. But what I did taste was a really good tasting chicken soup with a homemade flavor. Too bad I lost so much of it in the car. I also bought a three piece chicken meal which came with two sides. I was shocked at how small the pieces were. I was able to finish it off myself even though I am not a big eater. It came with mashed potatoes with brown gravy and with a side of coleslaw. Both were average. I felt the potatoes needed some salt which I added myself. It also came with two tortillas. I will say that the chicken was really tasty and not greasy because it's grilled. I wish the chicken pieces were larger. For $11 I thinkThe price is excessive.

Time for a update!!
A close friend of mine from the Modesto California area really recommended their tamale bowl!! So I had to try it.
I just went through the drive thru and I asked if the tamale bowl was spicy. And they recommended I get it without the sauce on it. And I got the tamale bowl with 2 tamales no sauce and it was so yummy. The combination of pinto beans, rice and tamales in one bite was delicious.
I also got a bowl of green chili posole. It had a nice flavor. But I like my posole soup with more hominy.
Definitely can't wait to try other entrees when I ned a Mexican food fix. Which is quite often!!
