Simple Japanese kitchen with sushi named for each U.S. state, classic cooked fare & sake & beer.
Just moved to Glendale from Chicago we have very high standards for food. As a huge foodie couple we go above and beyond trying to find the most delicious restaurants/food trucks! Always on the hunt for food. Let me just say... this place is so TASTY! If you like/love AUTHENTIC Japanese food, this is the spot for you! Our server was a sweet lady her name started with the letter E, she was great they were very busy when we came in and we waited some time for her to take our order , and everything we ordered did not disappoint. Truly no problem in waiting! when a restaurant is truly a good one, they can be busy often, so this is definitely worth the wait!
For appetizers we got Spicy garlic edamame which was a hit. Spicy beef gyoza, (if u see the picture of the gyoza...there's literally one left because they were so damn exquisite, I did not get the chance to take a cute aesthetically pleasing food photo) and that was my favorite appetizer by far!
Ordered the tofu bimibap, chicken bento box, spicy crab sushi roll (cooked)
Prices are very fair and the portions are generous
Came for ramen and picked up my order. I admittedly have high standards living next to the #1 Ramen spot in Chicago. The tonkotsu broth lacked flavor, the pork was uninspired, and I don't know why radishes were part of this in the first place. They need to go back to the drawing board on their ramen.
The interior of the restaurant somewhat confused me - it seemed like a holdover interior from the building housing an old franchise restaurant. It didn't have the warm woodwork or ambiance one would expect from a Japanese restaurant.
I didn't have their sushi and it seems that's the main draw here so I'll decline to rate this at the 1 star that dish deserves because the few patrons whose food I saw did look like they had some good sushi on their hands.
Just don't go here for ramen until they market an overhauled recipe
I went to this place today for lunch due to its good review. I was welcomed in by the sushi chef to a table. Right off the bat the restaurant does look nice. The waitress came in with the menu. I ordered the tempura udon and the Las Vegas roll. The waitress came and asked if I wanted ginger and wasabi. It felt a little weird because it was the first time someone ask that. When the udon came out, it looks pretty okay. Wasn't worth the price in my opinion. It does taste good, but not that great. The sushi came out after and it was good. I love the cream cheese in it. Being a baked roll, it felt a little cold. Towards the end really ruin my mood. As I was eating the waitress put the bill on the table. All she said was "I am putting this here" instead of me taking my time. I felt unwelcome. They didn't even greet me on my way out. I give this place overall a 3/5.
