We came here on the way up north and we're in the mood for Mexican food. The place was super busy so we knew the food must be good. There were no tables but we were lucky to get bar stools. To start, I had the pineapple drink, which was not only HUGE but it was delicious. You could barely taste the tequila but it was definitely in there and the pineapple juice was super good with it. My friend had a tall beer.
The chips and salsa were good. The salsa was the perfect amount of flavor and spice. I only wish there were more chunks in it but honestly flavor wise was perfect. Not too spicy but a small kick. I had the meat lovers dinner with carne asada, chicken, and bacon wrapped shrimp. The prawns were HUGE, it came with 2 but they were hefty. The bacon wrap was perfectly crispy and not a lot of fat on the bacon. There was also melted cheese, some of the best bacon wrapped shrimp I've ever had. The chicken was cooked to perfection and also seasoned amazing. The chicken had no fat or sketchy pieces and the flavor was honestly the best marinade and flavoring I've ever tasted. The carne asada was good but compared to the chicken and shrimp was eh. I liked how thin it was but there was some fat on the beef. The beans on my dish were not my favorite. They didn't have a Mexican taste, more of a chili type bean. The rice was delicious.
My friend had the pick 3 and choose the Chile relleno, which unfortunately wasn't the best. The fried batter was pretty good but the Chile was soggy. It was a huge Chile though. He also had a chicken enchilada which was the best thing on his plate. The beef taco was subpar.
Overall we liked it and would come back!!
We dined in last Sunday light after Sunset and got a booth immediately upon arrival around 5:45pm. The restaurant was filling up around 6:15pm as the hungry Grand Canyon sightseeing crowd started rolling in.
Very colorful and cheerful hand painted artwork on walls, tables, chairs, and dishes.
Every table receives a complementary basket of warm chips, definitely homemade and comes with a side of watered down salsa. We ordered a side of guacamole to pair with our chips. You get 5 "ice cream scoop" sized of guacamole in a bowl. Very delicious and priced accordingly. Approx $12.
I ordered the grilled shrimp tacos. You'd enjoy this taco dish if you are a fan of the coleslaw. The base of this soft taco is stuffed with coleslaw, and lots of them. I prefer regular lettuce with tomatoes, and onions. So make a special request to swap out coleslaw if that is also not your preference. But I have to saw this is unique and maybe Americanized. Approx $22.
My husband ordered the shredded beef chimichanga. It was crispy and packed with beef. He's had a fair share of chimichangas to say this one lacks ingredients such as CHEESE. This should really be like a burrito, but fried. Approx $20
Food portion sz is average, but since they are served on large plates, it looks like u are getting a generous serving once everything is spread out in a thin layer. Overall, food service was quick, which is a plus!
I'm always down to support local business! The food was really good and the service was fantastic! We were greeted by a hostess, sat and served chips and salsa quickly...it was kinda busy so it took about 15 minutes to even order drinks. Once we finally did order the food took a normal amount of time and was hot and fresh! Every thing was really good can't wait to go again!
