I ordered the carbonara and it was delicious, also was great portion. My fiancé ordered a lasagna and he was very happy with it too. Honestly, all the food we had was very tastie. My only complaint is after we ordered our main dish the waiter asked what salad we would like so naturally we answered. Only to find out when the check came that the salads were extra, mine being $6 extra which seems like something a waiter should note rather than making it seem like it's included. Other than that I would recommend this little hole in the wall.
This quiet Italian restaurant has authentic flavors and an Old World vibe. With brocade draperies at the windows, white and burgundy linens on the tables, and gilt-framed pictures on the walls, the small dining area exudes a shabby elegance.
Everyone in our party of five enjoyed the ambience and the food. The salads were declared "excellent" and the clam chowder was "amazing." My minestrone soup was delicious, with a rich stock, tender chunks of vegetables, and thick strands of homemade noodles.
The kitchen was a bit slow with the entrees, but that is not unusual these days, and the food was worth the wait. The house specials--chicken or shrimp with caramelized onions--earned rave reviews. Husband said his pasta with meatballs was excellent. My chicken Parmesan was light on the cheese, which emphasized the tanginess of the sauce. A bit different, but I liked it. And the fresh cooked vegetables--broccoli, carrots, and zucchini--were yummy.
Once a month La Bona has a delicious wine dinner. The food and wine is always delicious. If you haven't tried it you should. It is really good. I attached menu from last night. Everything was delicious. Next wine dinner is 4/24. Hope to see you then.
Service was excellent and so was the food. The ambience is like no other. Not many traditional restaurants exists anymore. Great wine selection too! Highly recommend. Will definitely be back soon!
