I was visiting family in Phoenix and was jonesing for some good Mexican food. So glad I found Herrera's! It does not disappoint. Great food, sauce and friendly service. I had the veggie quesadilla and it was so big that is the only thing I ate that day. I will definitely visit here again. Great job!
3 words.....Prices are Afforable. Compared to Filibertos, Rolibertos, fuck all the Berto's Mexican chain restaurants and salsitas; this one beats them. The carne asada fries are bomb! Fully loaded entree that's weighty and definitely something you can share between 2 people. Not swimming in grease like hmmmm Salsitas.
Wow, first time eating here and we will be back! Soooo much better than Filiberto's or any other similar places. Rice and beans were super fresh and tasty. I'm not usually a big fan of them so this was a nice surprise. The shredded beef enchilada has pieces of green pepper and onion in it, cooked perfectly, not killed from over cooking. Chicken enchilada was delicious too. You can tell they use high quality ingredients! Enchilada sauce is on the sweet side which is the only thing that was kind of off for me, but still good. Huge portions! Their hot sauces were too spicy for me which is rare. Especially the red one. Overall great food!
After driving back from CA we didn't want to cook so we drove through Herrera's. I am glad we did! My green chili burro was very good and I enjoyed the pork bring in smaller pieces. It was huge and I definitely have leftover. My husband got the carne asada plate and really enjoyed as well. We shared a quesadilla and it had a nice amount of cheese. We will definitely be back!
