Reviews

Crumbs is a decently dessert location with a lot of choices.

I had a cookie dough cupcake and a caramel chocolate brownie. Had to get my sugar fix while I was in Larchmont Village.

I was a little disappointed with the cookie dough cupcake. The cupcake tasted like a plain vanilla cupcake, but had some chocolate filling in the middle. The icing was what was supposed to make it taste "cookie doughy". It didn't really. I could see how it was supposed to, but it was just sweet, with a mild cookie scent.

I did, however, enjoy the caramel chocolate brownie. I love fudgy, decadent chocolate, and the amount of caramel was perfect and not overpowering. The brownie was rich and filling, I ate that and wasn't hungry for dinner afterwards. If I were to go back, I'd probably get this again.

Mom was right. Never eat dessert before your meal!

So thrilled that Crumbs is back!!!
These cupcakes trump any of the big guys in LA; the selection is creative and the sizes of the cupcakes are colossal! My all time favorites are the yellow cake with chocolate frosting and the brownie, but there are many other winners! Highly recommend !

Crumbs joins "Jesus of Nazareth" and "zombies" in the category of "things known to resurrect". After hearing the nothing-short-of-appalling news of the closure of all its stores, and subsequently coming to terms with the fact that I'd never get another chance to eat one of their cupcakes, this location on Larchmont has inexplicably reopened.

In the time since they closed, I came to the following realization: Crumbs makes superlative cupcakes. They are not for the faint of heart, and they are not to be consumed each day. When eaten in controlled moderation, however, these cupcakes are one of the most satisfyingly rich and decadent things to eat after a savory meal.

Yes, there is too much frosting on top. Yes, there is an artery of cream in the center. Yes, they are too sweet. (To quote my Japanese friend who, on trying one for the first time, exclaimed "殺人的に甘い"ーtranslation: Murderously Sweet.) Detractors claim that these factors cause them to be "too much"--and they are right. These cupcakes are not your average dessert. Instead, they're for those moments in life when you want to overindulge. And with each bite tasting like a piece of heaven in your mouth, they provide the perfect avenue for doing so.

There are dozens of flavors, as well as seasonal and daily/weekly special flavors. I have yet to try a flavor I don't like, but of the standard flavors, my favorites have been the Chocolate Sea Salt & Caramel, Apple Cobbler, and Red Velvet. Some of the best limited edition flavors I've tried are French Toast Crunch, Gingerbread Man, and Chocolate Mint Girlscout Cookie. For me, going into the store and seeing what new flavors they have is always part of the fun.

Crumbs vs. Sprinkles
Crumbs originated in New York, Sprinkles in Los Angeles. For this reason, I've found that New Yorkers are sooner to side with Crumbs, and West Coasters with Sprinkles. Speaking objectively as an outsider, I am adamant that Crumbs are superior with regard to moisture, texture, and consistency. In fact, recent sub-atomic tests conducted by NASA have conclusively corroborated my claim.*

(*This statement is not backed by NASA and may be false.)

I've found no decline in flavor since trying the cupcakes of the reopened store. Now let's show our appreciation and keep them from going under again!

For maximum enjoyment, I recommend always getting the Signature size. I usually get 2 at a time, and share them with a certain friend over the next two days.

Found it! It's the only Crumbs left anywhere. My friend said the owner of Dippin Dots bought it after Crumbs originally filed for bankruptcy. So they also had a freezer case selling dippin dots ice cream. And a special Dippin Dots cupcake, which I proceeded to get because I'd never seen it before. Oh and I got a squiggle for my friend, which is her fav and like a hostess cupcake My cupcake was great - kinda like a fun fetti cupcake with pink buttercream-ish frosting. I thought it was very similar to their good guy cupcake. Ahh, I miss Crumbs and hope they come back in full force
