About

At Carlos O'Brien's you will find awesome Mexican food made from high quality, fresh, local ingredients. Our team begins every day bright and early slicing fresh vegetables, turning the best avocados into our famous guacamole, slowly simmering our signature sauces... and when our customers come to enjoy the delicious results, they can be sure of excellent service in a and casual setting

History
Established in 1978.

Our mission is to be our customers' favorite place to eat. Since 1978, with the same local ownership, the Carlos O'Brien's team is always working hard to achieve this goal. From our first location in a modest strip mall in downtown Phoenix, our customers could not get enough. Diners waited in lines for seats and parking spaces and came from all parts of Arizona. Not being satisfied with keeping people waiting, we found a much bigger location just a few miles north on 12th Street and Northern Avenue. And since, we opened two more locations around the valley.

Carlos O'Brien's is a nice restaurant! My first day in Phoenix, Arizona and we came here for dinner. I'm not that type of person that likes Mexican food, but what I had was GOOD. Because I wasn't sure what to get, I just something simple - Grilled Chicken Tacos. When they finally arrived, they fresh, crispy, and juicy. They tasted amazing.

I'll be honest, the only thing that I wasn't a huge fan of was how greasy the food was. When you'd take a bite, it was like a whole river of grease or oil came out. As I was leaving, I noticed that there was a puddle of grease that followed me around - that's how bad it was.

Overall, the grease didn't really bother me and next time I come to Phoenix I'll make sure I come here again.

I need to update,..
As they are trying to be better with masks, but not too sure about sanitation so much.
We'd recently visited,..
and felt a little better, but ehh?!
Also,..
We sit outside in the patio lately

The food & drinks were ABSOLUTELY TOP NOTCH,.. as usual,...
Salsa, was wow, incredible!!!!
Kudos to whomever
Omgoodness.
We did miss our ADDISON, this last time,.. but we're VERY well taken care of on the patio.

The craving for their food is overwhelming.

Not good.
A large, cardboard tortilla with what seemed like I slice of American cheese is what they called a quesadilla.
No salsa, guacamole or sour cream with. We asked our waiter for some and he brought us a tiny plastic cup. For this we were charged $2.50.
My fajitas were awful. A pile of slop with a few pieces of chicken. No rice.
I doubt this chain joint will be around much longer.

Tried Carlos O'Brien's.... and... wont be back. First of all, it took about 30 minutes from being seated for us to get our drinks and place our food orders. Mind you, we had our 4 sons with us... the youngest being 11 months and fhe oldest 7. They did their best to be patient. When the food finally DID come, it was subpar at best. I got the plot fundido with the cream cheese on the side... the rest of my food was SMOTHERED in cheese. To the point I finally took it off. The amount of grease on my plate from the cheese was disgusting. Second, one of my boys ordered the cheeseburger. It was so burnt... it was inedible. He attempted a few bites before giving up. The kid's chicken was ok... nothing to write home about. All in all, extremely disappointed. Subpar food and extremely slow service.
